The visit begins with tantalising glimpses of the garden on the walk down the drive and along the path leading to the new cabin. From here you can purchase tickets for the garden or visit the nursery for free. The garden walk falls into two halfs. We recommend you start with the woodland walk. You pass through the Dell taking in the Trillium and Erythronium beds and on to the woodland cottage garden before taking the steps to the upper woodland. Here there are a number of winding circular paths and as always at Spinners it is worth looking down at your feet as well as looking up. The second half of the garden walk takes you down over the front lawn past the herbaceous borders to the new pond and then into the small arboretum which has many fine specimens of Magnolia and Cornus as well as many new plantings. This will lead you back through the nursery where many of the garden's treasures are available for sale. On return to the cabin there are hot and cold drinks available and a chance to sit out on the terrace and enjoy the view over the Lymington Valley. There is limited access for disabled visitors and two parking spaces reserved at the bottom of the hill. |
